Some mannequins are very shy when they arrive and some that reveal their entire past the moment you touch them.

This one chose the latter.

As we began preparing her for renovation, gently sanding back years of paint, something unexpected emerged. Not damage. Not wear. But history. Layer upon layer, each colour from a different life, settling into delicate contours like rings in a tree.

And suddenly her hand wasn’t just a hand anymore.

It became something else entirely.

A map. A memory. A record of every version she’s ever been.

We could smooth it away, of course. Return her to a pristine, shop-floor-ready finish.

But the question is… should we?

Because there’s something rather beautiful about a mannequin that refuses to forget who she’s been.
